We had a problem with our radius server that does the
authentication so that users may log onto the internet.
We became aware of the problem at approximately 11
am and were able to have it back up and running by
approximately 11:15.
- Tuesday, September 19, 2001: during the night
One of our NT servers which hosts some of our sites, was
infected with the Nimda.a virus. The virus managed to
overwhelm that particular NT server. On Wednesday,
during the day, we redid that server and it is now up and
running in Win2k with a new version of Cold Fusion.
- Saturday, September 8, 2001: 11:30 pm
Our machine that does primary DNS and hosts the userpages
had a hard drive failure. Early Sunday morning we
were able to get another server to handle the primary dns.
Since that particular server was one of the oldest
we still had in service, we have updated that machine when
we replaced the hard drive. This did mean it took a
little longer to get the user pages and ftp to work, but on
the upside, now the machine is faster and can handle more.
- Tuesday, July 30, 2001: 10:00 am
There was a transformer fire in Grand Rapids, MI.
Unfortunately that fire was located closer than comfort to
the telco we use. In an effort to protect the
equipment from power surges and other problems it was shut
down. The effective outage was from approximately
10:07 to 11:07 am.
