Web Page Frequently-Asked Questions

Note:  these instructions apply only to standard user accounts, not to virtual server accounts.

  1. What is the cost of placing a set of web pages on the NetOne server?

Web page space is included in the cost of your NetOne subscription.  There is no additional charge for either personal or commercial use of that space.

  2. Do I need to have someone place my web pages on the server for me?

You may place your own pages on the server directly without the need to contact an administrator.  However, should you need assistance, help is always a phone call or an e-mail away.

  3. What are the steps I need to go through to place my web pages on the server?

Create your set of web pages on your local machine.
Use your favorite FTP program to connect to the NetOne server (users.netonecom.net) using your username and password.
If there exists a directory called public_html, then change to that directory before transferring your pages to the server.  If this directory does not exist then create it as a new directory.  The name is case-sensitive.
Transfer your web pages to the server.  Ensure that the start page (the one users will see first) is named index.html.
You may now view your web pages using your favorite web browser by entering the URL address of http://www.netonecom.net/~username
